Connection of the OD7000 sensor head to a controller is made with a specially manufactured 3 meter long optical fiber that is supplied with each kit.
The optical fiber is optimized multimode with a duplex glass core, inner aramid strand sheath, a metal protection sheath, and an orange low halogen outer jacket.
The fiber connector at the sensor head end is a metal bayonet type that is installed by pushing the connector home and twisting the metal sleeve clockwise. To remove the fiber, simply twist the bayonet connector anti clockwise.
The fiber connector at the controller end is a plastic type with a beige locking sleeve and two locating keys.
The connector should be positioned with the keys aligned with the receptacle slots and, holding the spring loaded shutters on the controller open, it should be inserted gently into the controller. With the connector fully pushed in, the locking sleeve should produce an audible click. DO NOT FORCE THE CONNECTOR INTO THE CONTROLLER. If the connector does not slide into place far enough for the locking sleeve to click, check that it is inserted the right way up or that foreign objects are not preventing insertion.
To remove the connector, the locking sleeve should be pulled backwards until a click is heard and the connector should easily slide out. DO NOT PULL THE CONNECTOR WITHOUT RELEASING THE LOCKING SLEEVE. Failure to release the locking sleeve may result in damage to the connector or the controller unit that will render the device inoperative.
