In the RAY26 manual is written:
Recommended position of installation: between conveyor belts or conveyor rollers.

In real life it can look this way:

If the usage of the mounting position between the belts isn't possible and the RAY26 has to be mounted on top of the conveyor the blanking of the conveyor comes in the game.

That's because the conveyor belt (damaged, welding/ glueing point) can be falsely detected:

For the blanking you have 2 possibilities
1. via IO-Link
2. manually by teach with partly covered light beam

blanking via IO-Link:

RAY26P-xxxxx3

The conveyor blanking allows a stepwise inactivation of the detection area (A = approx. 1 mm on the upper and the lower site of the array for each level).
Thereby influences of the conveyor belt (which causes false signals of the sensor) can be suppressed. The setting of the conveyor blanking can be done via IO-Link with the index 238.
After setting the sensor has to be taught again (index 2, value 65).

RAY26: Conveyor Belt Blanking:  https://youtu.be/ouxHvel19Zg

manual blanking by teach of the covered area of the light beam

RAY26P-xxxxx3
RAY26P-xxxxx5
RAY26P-xxxxx9

Place an object A with the corresponding height to be blanked (e.g. 3 mm) in the light band in front of the RAY26.
Teach RAY26 and it is ready for use.

Remove the object from the light band.
This area (B = object height A) is now blanked for detection.

If the conveyor belt moves a little bit up, it is not detected.

The minimum detection object heith has now to be equal or higher than the height of the blanked area plus the Minimum Detectable Object (MDO) of the sensor.
An object must now be e.g. approx. 8 mm (3mm blanked+5mm MDO) high so that it can be detected by RAY26P-xxxxx5 (MDO: 5 mm).

If the RAY26 is re-taught without object A into the light band, then the blanked area is no longer present and is available for detection again.

Limitation for the manual blanking via teach

Here is the limitation for the manual blanking via teach:

1. in case only one side is blocked

2. in case both sides are blocked at the same time
