Download

The latest Visionary-T Mini CX firmware is available on sick.com. Please contact SICK support if an older firmware versions is required.

In addition to the firmware, further software downloads for the related products are available here.

Prerequisites

Supported Hardware and Software

  • This release only supports Visionary-T Mini CX devices: V3S105-1x

System requirements for firmware installation

  • SOPAS Engineering Tool 2021.1 or higher.
  • For adequate SOPAS ET performance, use a PC with
    • Operating systems: Windows 7, 8 (32/64 bit) or Windows 10.
    • Min. Pentium i5 (2.6 GHz) and 4 GB RAM
    • Min. Intel® HD Graphics 3000 (or NVIDIA®  NVS 3100M 512MB GDDR3) and OpenGL 2.0 Support. Make sure to use the latest graphic card drivers!
    • Screen resolution 1,024 x 768 or higher, at least 256 colors (65,536 colors recommended)
    • Min. 450 MB hard drive space
    • Ethernet: 100 Mbit/s or higher. 1 Gbit/s or faster is recommended for best performance during configuration of the device via SOPAS ET and for streaming
  • A mouse with at least three buttons (or a scroll wheel) is recommended.

Installation

Please follow the instructions below and carefully read the release notes before starting the installation of the Visionary-T Mini CX firmware. Make sure to connect the power supply to the device as well as the Ethernet cable.

Use SOPAS ET to update the firmware of the device. In the SOPAS ET follow the steps below:

  • In the right pane, click Search devices
  • Double-click on the listed Visionary-T Mini CX you want to update (we recommend using port 2122). The device will now show up in the left pane
  • In the device menu, click Download firmware and follow instructions.

  • If prompted for password, use:
    User: Service
    Password: CUST_SERV
  • After successfully upgrading the firmware, make sure to install the device driver by "Device upload" (not from Sick.com or disk)

Release version 2.1.0

New Features

Functionality Description
API description The document describing the API, i.e. CoLa Telegram Listing has been revised and improved.
SDK C++ and Python samples have undergone major revision and improvements including their documentation. They are now available via github.

Bug Fixes

Bug fix Description
Device/App availability Proper handling of critical file system errors included that ensure accessibility of the device and availability of Sensor Apps.
Point cloud flip The point cloud visualization in SOPAS ET could suddenly show the point cloud upside down when changing the visualization or switching to single frame acquisition.
Application crash handling Proper handling of crashing application such that the device stays responsive and the error is indicated via the device LED

Known limitations and issues

Limitation/Issue Description:
Increased switch-on delay At (internal) temperatures below 0°C, the device needs a warm-up phase in order to turn on. Hence, the switch-on delay is increased compared to the ~20 seconds specified for temperatures >0°C.
CPU temperature availability The CPU temperature is not available while being below 10°C.
Alleged change of device name SOPAS ET suggests that the device name can be changed even without the required user level (unexpected). The changes are however not saved on the device (as expected).
Color map not saved SOPAS ET does not save the colormap when exporting the visualisation settings.
Effectiveness of change of IP address Importing a *.sopas file which changes the IP address requires to  1) save the paramerters permamently after the import and 2) to reboot the camera to complete the procedure
Inconsistent visualization Deactivating distance-based filtering leads to a different visualization of the formerly filtered pixels in the point cloud in SOPAS ET. Their color can be less vibrant compared to the other points.

New features

Functionality Description
Time Synchronization The clocks of an arbitrary number of cameras can now be synchronized via PTP or NTP. This allows for precise timing and offsets between the image acqusition of the individual cameras.
CPU temperature The CPU temperature ia now accessible via API/Cola command alongside other temperature values.
Logs via webserver Camera logs can now be viewed via webserver. Debugging logs can be exported and saved via webserver.
Cold start switch-on delay The switch-on delay for cold starts in ambient temperatures between -10°C and 0°C has been reduced.
Improved Documentation Missing information was added to the API documentation (CID description). Internal and irrelevant information was removed. The data structure is now also included in the documentation.
"Reached maximum client connections": TCP socket timeout The default idle time required to automatically close unused sockets was decreased from 2 hours to 3 minutes. Hence, the likelyhood of reaching the maximum number of five client connections (and not being able to open new connections) due to e.g. lost/bad ethernet connection or crashing host applications, has been drastically reduced.

Bug fixes

Bug fix Description
API variable "DeviceTime" A bug was fixed which caused the variable DeviceTime to return "zero". The device time now returns the time/clock that is used for the timestamp of the frames such that they are directly comparable.
Data stream at ~0°C A bug leading causing the data stream to fail at temperatures when starting the device around 0°C was fixed.

New features

Feature Description
State map The device now streams a depth and intensity map as well as a state map. The state map helps to understand whether the data is missing due to a configured filter or due to other circumstances e.g. saturation effects.
Edge correction Helps to eliminate errors which typically occurs at the edges of objects and corrects them to a sharper contour within the depth data.
Isolated pixel filter Identifies isolated distance pixels within the scene and corrects their distance values compared to its neighbors.
Ambiguity based filter Identifies and removes ambiguitities which can be caused for example by objects outside the unambiguity range and multipath reflections.
Remission based filter Sets the distance values for all pixels outside the given object remission range to zero.
Digital IO Digital IOs are available for in- and outputs. For example, trigger of single frames, power save mode or device warning.
Python 3 We have updated our Python 2.7 samples to Python 3 and provide them within our supporting material.
C++ programming samples update The C++ programming samples have been updated in order to support the newly introduced state map.
ROS driver update The ROS driver have been updated in order to support the newly introduced state map.
Update of customer documentation We have updated for you the customer presentation and the device configuration guide within our documentation.
