That function is the possibility, to get an external signal, given to the input of the LMS, into the the scan data telegram, including the information of the time when the signal occured, and the angular degree of the mirror at the same point. The Event information can be found than in the event block of the data telegram. That external signal can be any sort of signal, a GPS signal, an external trigger signal, a cyclic impulse or similar...
Description
The LMS5xx (PRO only) may monitor the state of IN4. A low to high transition of that external signal marks an "event". An event contains a description of the time and position (of the internal mirror) within the scan. Up to three events per scan can be acquired. They are saved within the scan´s event block: \aEventBlock[0..2] udiSystemCount timestamp when event occurred [us] diAngle angle at which event occurred [1/10000°]
Sopas Parameter
In order to have the events included, Input 3 and 4 must be configured as "Digital Input". The external signal must be connected to Input 4 (same input as sync signal). For the external signal the configuration of Input 4 is not relevant: It triggers on low to high transition only and does not debounce the signal!
Rotation and Degrees
At 185° the scan will be finished, the events written into the data telegram and then the telegram is sent. At 186° a new scan starts, than again, 3 external external are possible.
Limits and Restrictions
Please consider that the simultaneous operation of an external incremental Encoder and external Signal is not possible. The order of events within the data structure is "newest" first. A maximum of three events can be evaluated within one scan, i.e. the last three events within a scan are collected. Also note that event collection starts just after the active scan range of the previous scan, i.e. at the 185° angle. Works only with the LMS 5xx PRO.
