If SOPAS ET cannot establish a connection to an IO-Link sensor, there may be several reasons for this. Please check these points:
Is the correct cable used? A cable with a M12 connector and 4 or 5 pins is required for the connection to the SiLink2 Master.
Do you have a sufficient power supply?
Please note that USB 2.0 ports are specified for a maximum power of 2,5 W (total for SiLink2 Master and sensor). Some notebooks can deliver even less power. If the power consumption of the sensor is close to (or even above) this limit, please use the external power supply that comes with each SiLink2 Master.
The SiLink2 Master may fail due to insufficient power supply if it is connected to a passive (unpowered) USB hub. The maximum power provided by the PC (typ. 2,5 W) must be shared with the USB devices connected and the hub itself.
Is the correct SDD installed? IO-Link devices will normally not offer an SDD upload function.
Is the SOPAS USB driver working properly? This can be checked in the Windows Device Manager, where the SiLink2 Master must be visible in the "COM and LPT" ports section (see figure below).
