Installation
Use the SICK AppManager software to update the firmware in a device. In the SICK AppManager, do the following to update the firmware:
Connect to the device.
Clear apps and user data on the device before upgrading to ensure disk space availability (recommended)
Import the firmware package (*.spk file) to the right pane named “Firmware” using the “Add Packages to repository”/+ button or drag-and-drop.
Select the firmware package, then press “Install” to start the firmware update.
Please note: Two .spk firmware files are included in newer firmwares, a signed and an unsigned firmware:
- Unsigned firmware: Used when upgrading from unsigned firmware (lower than V5.0.0) to V5.0.0. - Signed firmware: Used when upgrading/downgrading on already installed signed firmware (V5.0.0 or greater).
Please note: Due to improved cybersecurity, to downgrade to a firmware lower than V5.0.0 after installing a firmware higher than V5.0.0, it is required to:
- Update to firmware version V5.1.0 or higher. - Provide proof of ownership of the device by pressing the physical button located on the device while installing the older firmware.
