The SEK90 / SEK160 / SEK260 Hiperface encoder

The SEK90, SEK160, SEK260 were large hollow shaft encoders with Hiperface. The sensing technology was based on a capacitive system. It consists 2 PCBs as capacitor plates and a plastic rotor in between as dielectricum.

The devices were only available as a single turn device.

There were 3 sizes available:

• SEK90: 64 SIN/COS periods, resolution: 2048 steps
• SEK160: 128 SIN/COS periods, resolution: 4096 steps
• SEK260: 256 SIN/COS periods, resolution: 8192 steps

The 3 sizes:

• SEK90 (the small one) --> hollow shaft diameter: 50 mm
• SEK160 (the middle one) --> hollow shaft diameter: 110 mm
• SEK260 (the big one) --> hollow shaft diameter: 210 mm

All 3 types are phased out:

• SEK90: phased out 31.12.2019. The replacement is the SES90
• SEK160: phased out 20.12.2024. There is no 1:1 replacement available please check the STSxxx for possibilities
• SEK260: phased out 31.12.2018. There is no 1:1 replacement available please check the STSxxx for possibilities
