Password Recovery

RFU6xx and RFH6xx devices support a secure method to reset all user-defined passwords and restore factory settings.

This process requires a Micro-SD card and a terminal program capable of sending Sopas commands.

The described password recovery approach is available starting from firmware version V2.52 for RFU6xx devices and V5.30 for RFH6xx devices.

Requirements

  • RFU6xx with firmware V2.52 or newer OR RFH6xx with firmware V5.30 or newer
  • Micro-SD card
  • Terminal program to send Sopas commands
  • Access to the device's power supply

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare the Micro-SD Card
    • Insert the Micro-SD card into your computer
    • In the root directory of the card, create an empty text file named SERVICE_RESET.txt
    • Ensure the file has no content and is correctly named
  2. Power Off the Device
  3. Insert the Micro-SD Card into the Device
  4. Power On the Device
  5. Send the Sopas Command Within 3 Minutes
    • Using your terminal program, send one of the following Sopas commands within three minutes after powering on:
      • <STX>sMN ResetDevice 1<ETX> --> including deletion of txt-file on Micro-SD card
      • <STX>sMN ResetDevice 0<ETX> --> without deletion of txt-file on Micro-SD card, for further password recovery operations with that Micro-SD card

Device Response

  • Successful Reset:
    sAN ResetDevice 1
All local data, including parameters, log files, and passwords, are deleted. The device is restored to factory settings, which are saved persistently in flash memory.
  • Unsuccessful Reset:
    sAN ResetDevice 0
Indicates an error, such as a missing SERVICE_RESET.txt file or a command sent too late
