In rare cases, the OD2000 may wrongly interpret external light reflections that occur outside the measuring range as a measured value.
This happens when a light source or reflections from a light source are outside the measuring range but are in the interference range of the sensor. The following image shows the interference range of the sensor.
In the light distribution curve, which represents the signal curve of the receiver chip, such reflections can be recognized as a wide peak.
In comparison, a detected object within the measuring range typically appears as a narrow peak.
By default, the OD2000 cannot differentiate between these two cases, which leads to the faulty measurements mentioned above. With the firmware update 2.0.0R, the OD2000 receives an additional function which is able to filter out such reflections.
Then the sensor checks whether the width of the detected peak is within a valid value range. To activate this function, the parameter "Peak selection" must be set to the value "Peak width". The limits of this filter can be set individually using the "Min. width" and "Max. width" parameters.
