Notes:

  • The device is tested and specified up to 50°C. There are no tested values above available for this.
  • At an outside temperature of 50°C, the device temperature increases up to 75°C (unloaded outputs; no extraneous light).
  • Some electronic components used are “only” specified up to 85°C. This means that if the ambient temperature increases by ~10K, possible damage to the device must be assumed.
  • This temperature range (ambient temperature 50° to 60°) is not specified. If the device is operated in this area for a longer period, the service life may be reduced.

Possible Measures:

  • Do not load outputs unless necessary as this will increase the device temperature.
  • Avoid direct external light onto the hood, as this increases the transmitter and receiver temperatures.
  • Switch off data output if not needed.
  • Connecting the picoScan150 housing to cooler machine components using thermal compound
  • At lower scanning/spinning frequencies the device gets warmer (rotating rotating mirror helps with cooling). It is therefore advisable to choose a slightly higher scanning frequency (e.g. 30Hz or higher) if it makes sense for the application. If special temperature tests are carried out by the customer, these should be carried out with the scanning frequency planned later.
