One of the problems in today's life is internet privacy and security. This is why installing People Counter with Digital IO communication can be the best choice for that.

The goal in this step-by-step guide is to show how two or more devices can be connected via Digital IO and have a totally functioning setup with some external lights.

NOTE: for the installation, it is recommended to connect the different devices to your computer via Ethernet. This will help see through the GUI if the communication is done correctly.

First of all, it is really important to know our installation and which information do we need from the device. There are several inputs and outputs and, first, we need to know which inputs and outputs we need. For that, it is best to go to the manual and go through chapter 6 to understand the electrical installation and the different inputs/outputs available.

First example: 2 People Counter + 2 lights

In this example, we will be focusing in increasing and decreasing the room capacity while people go in and out. For this, we only need Digital output 4 (yellow), Digital output 5 (grey), Digital input 6 (pink) and Digital input 7 (red), as shown in the table's manual.

What we need to know here is that the Digital outputs on 1 device will be connected to the Digital inputs of the second device. So in this case DO4 of device A will be connected to DI7 of device B and DO5 of device A to DI6 of device B.

In this case, we will have device B showing the overall room capacity and device A only showing its own room capacity. You can also activate "Counting correction" in this setup.

If you would like to connect lights also in order to see if the devices are counting and if the room if somewhat full or completely full, then the traffic light should be connected to Output 1, Output 2 and Output 3 of each device. (See manual)

Second example: 3 or more People Counter + 1 or more lights

In this example, we will be focusing in increasing and decreasing the room capacity while people go in and out as well as in the previous example. For this, we will connect exactly the same as before Digital output 4 (yellow), Digital output 5 (grey), Digital input 6 (pink) and Digital input 7 (red). Digital Outputs of device A wired to Digital Inputs or device B. Digital Outputs of device B wired to Digital Input of device C and so on.

In this case, the last device connected will be the one that receives the overall result from all devices. You can also activate "Counting correction" in this setup.
It is also possible to connect traffic lights to the devices as well as in example 1.

NOTE 2: Remember that, in General Settings tab, the "Debounce time of manual count correction", needs to be half of the time, at least, from the "Length of counting pulse".

NOTE 3: If you would like to have all devices showing the total room capacity (instead of only 1 device of all), it is possible but "Counting correction" must not be active.
