As part of the portfolio streamlining, the DME4000 and DME5000 device series will be discontinued as of March 31, 2025. Their delivery will be stopped on June 31, 2025. As the successor DL100 Pro does not have a variant with HIPERFACE® interface, there is no direct 1:1 replacement for DME4000-xx7 respectively DME5000-xx7 devices.
Depending on the peripherals to which a DME4000/DME5000 was previously connected, it is usually still possible to replace it with DL100 Pro with SSI interface. This applies, for example, if the peripheral device, usually a drive inverter, has a so-called multi-encoder input card. Such cards are usually able to operate other encoder interfaces, such as SSI, in addition to HIPERFACE®. For example, inverters from the 8400 and 9400 series from Lenze have such multi-inputs. This also applies to inverters of the MOVIDRIVE® MDX61B series from SEW, provided that the DEU21B encoder card is used.
If no SSI-compatible input card is on board, the possibility of retrofitting a multi-encoder input card should be checked. An example of this is the replacement of the HIPERFACE® input card DEH11B by DEU21B in MOVIDRIVE® MDX61B.
For specific information, please contact the manufacturer of your inverter.
For a quick and easy mechanical conversion from DME4000/DME5000 to DL100 Pro, we recommend using the adapter plate (part no. 2062704). This plate allows the DL100 Pro together with its alignment bracket (part no. 2058653) to be mounted using the existing hole pattern of the DME alignment bracket in the system.
After conversion to DL100 Pro, the optical axis of the laser either corresponds to the axis of the originally installed DME (applies when replacing the DME5000 with alignment bracket order no. 2027721) or deviates only slightly (approx. +25 mm vertical offset when replacing the DME4000 in combination with alignment bracket part no. 2046052 or 2040695).
For the electrical connection of the DL100 Pro SSI, the customer's existing HIPERFACE® connection cable from the DME accessories can be used.
The customer´s existing power supply cable for the DME connector no. 1 can be omitted, as all signals are transmitted via the remaining 8-pin cable after appropriate rewiring according table 6.
Note:
The inverter application configuration for the external encoder must be changed from HIPERFACE® to SSI encoder. The controller parameters may also need to be adjusted.
It can be assumed that with DL100 Pro the control performance exceeds that of DME4000/DME5000 HIPERFACE®.
