What is the content of the application note?

HIPERFACE DSL is a fast digital protocol for motor feedback systems for the connection between servo drive and motorfeedback systems. One of its great advantages is the SYNC mode, in which the position data are sampled and transmitted synchronously with a defined clock signal, which is provided from the drive control system. In this way the protocol matches the time point for the sampling of the data without time fluctuation with the clock coming from the drive system.

For general information relating to the synchronization feature, please refer to the according chapters within the implementation manual. Within this application note SICK provides additional information and general recommendations. The system designer is responsible for the final design including according tests. Herein the term "motor feedback system" and "encoder" are interchangeable.
