This pictures shows the valid values for the current output.

The green bar indicates the measurement area of the programmed encoder with a linear current output of 4mA to 20mA. The 4mA is the start point (teach 0%) and the 20mA again the end point (teach 100%).

If you turn now the shaft of the encoder underneath the start point or above the end point, then the current linear output will also decrease or increase until the low or high limit is reached (see the yellow bars). The low limit is 3mA and the high limit at 21mA.

If you turn the shaft of the encoder even further underneath the low limit or above the high limit then the output current won't change anymore and an undefined status is the consequence.

IMPORTANT!

  • The programming as well as the positions (start and end point) AREN'T getting lost when going to low/high limit or undefined status.
  • As soon as getting back to the programmed measurement area the encoder works normally again.
