There are three typical ways to connect the Bulkscan to an encoder.
Connect the needed encoder wires directly to the 12-Pin "I/O" connection of the Bulkscan.
Use the Compact Connection Module and connect an 8-Pin encoder to the M12 "encoder connector" connection of the Compact Connection Module using an 8-Pin cable.
Use the Compact Connection Module and connect the needed wire of the encoder to the Compact Connection Module direktly.
!-Remeber the Bulkscan needs an HTL encoder-!
1. Encoder wired directly to a Bulkscan
The Bulkscan needs only 2 data wires and an GND connection from the encoder to track the conveyer belt speed. In the picture below they are named A - ENC1 and B - ENC2. You have to connect the encoder via A to the Bulkscan pin ENC1 and the encoder wire B to the Bulkscan pin ENC2. The encoder needs his own power supply ( VS Encoder and GND Encoder). It's important, that the GND of the Encoder (GND Encoder) is also connected to the GND ENC pin of the Bulkscan! Without this GND connection between the Bulkscan and the encoder, the Bulkscan cannot safely receive the signals from the encoder.
The following picture shows the pinout of the I/O connection of the Bulkscan LMS511.
Take care that the GND of the encoder power supply is also connected to the GND ENC pin of the Bulkscan.

Warning
Different connection cables may have different wire colors!
Use the pin numbers and not the wire colors.
2. 8-Pin encoder cabel to Compact Connection Module
It is possible to connect encoders with the Compact Connection Module using an M12 connector. That's an easy way without handling single wires.
For details please see the linked article "Compact connection module for Bulkscan LMS511".
3. Encoder wired to Compact Connection Module
An easy way to connect a encoder to the Bulkscan LMS511 is the Compact Connection Module.
For details please see the linked article "Compact connection module for Bulkscan LMS511".
The picture below shows the Compact Connection Module. The 3 big cables are connected to the connections on top of the LMS511. The clamps pinout is shown on the inside of the Compact Connection Module.
The Bulkscan needs only 2 data wires and an GND connection from the encoder to track the conveyer belt speed. In the picture below they are named A - ENC1 and B - ENC2. You have to connect the encoder via A to the Compact Connection Module pin 08 ENC 1 and the encoder wire B to the pin 09 ENC 2. The encoder needs his own power supply (VS Encoder and GND Encoder). You can use an separate power supply for the encoder or use pin 11 and 12 of the Compact Connection Module. Pin 11 and 12 are connected to the Bulkscan power supply. If you use an separate power supply it's important, that the GND of the Encoder (GND Encoder) is also connected to the 11 GND ENC pin of the Compact Connection Module! Without this GND connection between the Bulkscan and the encoder, the Bulkscan cannot safely receive the signals from the encoder.
