The L230 (LinCoder) linear encoder

The L230 (Lincoder) is a linear absolute encoder system, which is working with a magnetic tape. The read head is reading with hall sensors the absolute position.

• measuring range: up to 40m
• pole pitch: 5mm (length of SIN/COS period)
• Resolution: 10µm (there were also a version with less measuring range but a resolution of 1µm)
• distance to magnetic tape: 1mm +- 0.8mm
• The L230 was available with SSI and Hiperface.

The L230 was phased out (22.07.2017), because it was not ROHS compliant.

Unfortunately we do not have a 1:1 Replacement for this encoder.

• Distances below 4m: It is possible to use the TTK50 / TTK70 HIPERFACE®  or TTK70 SSI (depending on the needed interface). But keep in mind, the mounting tolerances are much smaller.
• Distances below 16m: It is also possible to use the STL70 / ETL70. A SSI version will follow.
• Distances higher than 16 m: We have no perfect replacement. Maybe it is possible to solve the application with a KH53 (POMUX) or another SICK product.
• Up to 2.5m also DAX can be a replacement option. Please consider the available interfaces at DAX and check with customer if one of those is a option.
