Table of Contents

Dx1000 offers various options for activating or deactivating the measurement laser or alignment laser. This laser control can be done  either via display buttons, digital input or communication interface. The details are described in the following.

1. Display buttons:

The setting for the laser control can be found in menu group “Device”.

2. Digital input "In":

A selectable high or a low signal activates the digital input "In" and the associated operating mode of the laser assigned to it. Depending on the device variant, one or two digital inputs are available at connector "Power" respectively connectors "Power" and "Auxiliary".

3. RS-422 interface:

The corresponding command can be used to control measurement laser or alignment laser during operation. Further information on the RS-422 interface can be found in the operating instructions.

4. Ethernet interface:

  • TCP/IP command

The Ethernet interface enables setting of the device parameters as well as control of the device via TCP/IP commands. The commands for the laser control are identical to those described above for the RS-422 interface and allow laser control during operation. Details on TCP/IP communication can be found in the Technical Information "Dx1000 Telegram Listing (English, no. 8021820) in the download area of Dx1000.

  • SOPAS Engineering Tool Software

The Ethernet interface can also be used for communication by means of the SOPAS Engineering Tool software. Laser control can be found in the “DEVICE” settings.

5. Fieldbus interface:

  • PROFIBUS or PROFINET variant

Measurement laser or alignment laser can be activated or deactivated via the GSD module "20 - Device". The specified setting is transferred to the device during start-up. It cannot be changed during operation via the fieldbus interface.

  • EtherNet/IP variant

In the default configuration, the measurement laser is switched on and the alignment laser is switched off. Changes can be made during operation via the cyclical I/O data using the attributes 120 or 121 in output assembly "Control".

Alternatively, changes can be made during operation using acyclic (explicit) messaging services.

Following screenshots from operating instructions show the output assembly and and the details of the corresponding attributes.

Note!

These attributes are not included in the configuration assembly, which is transferred to the device during start-up.
