General

As shown in the left and right picture below, beside the other information there are arrows shown in the top right corner (red rectangle) of the AS30s display. The arrows indicate the movement of the edge. As described in chapter 7.9.4 "Enhanced Sensing" of the operating instruction, the analog output of the AS30 can be configured to indicate an Edge loss event by the set values.

In general, this can be seen at the display as well. Below, the different meanings are listed.

The arrows signalize the direction in which the edge was lost. So, speaking for the sensors display:
  • arrow pointing to connector side --> edge was lost in connector direction
  • arrow pointing to the head side --> edge was lost in head direction
  • arrow pointing up --> The edge was suddenly lost from view. (not to the right, not to the left) For example if the web breaks suddenly.
There is no arrow pointing down, because the sensor physically cannot differ between those directions.
The analog output reacts accordingly and can differentiate between those 3 conditions. By default, the edge loss in connector or head side is defined as 3.5 mA or 20.5 mA (Analog range from 4-20 mA) and 3 mA if the edge was lost suddenly. This analog output setting can be changed, if needed.
