ZLM Daisy Chain Maximum and Power Supply Configuration
The number of ZLMs that can be daisy-chained together depends on the a variety of factors, including power supply placement, power supply wattage, voltage, and power supply cable length. The main factor discussed below will be the placement of the power supply, which is the most influential factor.
Assumptions made for below calculations: 95W power source, 24/28VDC and 2m power supply cable for end tap and center tap.
There are 3 choices for power supply placement: end tap, center tap, and dual center tap. These will be covered in more detail below.
End Tap: power source at one end of a ZPA chain, typically the discharge end. 28VDC power source will accommodate the most modules per chain for this setup. Most effective for when ZPA system requires a relatively small number of modules or when a small number of modules remain unpowered on a large ZPA system that uses center tap wiring.

Center Tap: power source at the center point of a ZPA chain. 2 long cables with attached T-cables are used to apply a center tap at the mid-point between the power source and the end of the ZPA chain in both directions. 24VDC will accommodate the most modules per chain for this setup.

Dual Center Tap: power source at the center point of a ZPA chain. 2 long cables with attached T-cables are used to apply a center tap at the mid-point between the power source and the end of the ZPA chain in both directions. When using dual center tap wiring a 24VDC power source will accommodate the most modules per chain.
