RAY26 Quality of run / contamination/ alignment visualisation and how to adjust

The Quality of Teach and Quality of Run values are calculated based on the received light level for the RAY26 Reflex Array Sensor.

Quality of Teach:
The "Quality of Teach" (QoT) for the RAY26 Reflex Array sensor refers to the quality of the sensor's "teach-in" process. This value is calculated based on the received light level during the teach-in process.
This value has a range of 0 - 100 %.
0 % = Teach in failed, 100 % = Teach in successful with best possible (or highly satisfactorily) quality.
Under normal conditions the QoT should be after teach in at 100%. If not please check the sensor to reflector adjustment, stable sensor and reflector mounting bracket, reflector angle, avoid sensor/ reflector vibrations, check cleanliness of sensor front screen and reflector,
If the received light level is to low for normal operation, you will receive a teach in error and the yellow LED flashes fast:

Quality of Run:

The "Quality of Run" (QoR) refers to the sensor's performance during its operation in relation to the teach in state. This value is calculated based on the current received light level.
QoR = current received light level / received light level during teach * 100
This value has a range of 0 - 100 %.
0 % = no received light, 100 % = amount of received light is identical with the teach value

Factors that influence the QoT or QoR are:
- sensor and reflector alignment,
- reflector angle,

- stable vibration free mounting,
- sensor reflector distance,
- reflector quality, we strongly recommend Sick reflectors, best result with the reflector PL80A Part no.: 1003865
- scratches, damage, dust, dirt on the sensor front screen or reflector,

see Sopas ET screenshot below with Quality of teach value of 55% and Quality of Run value of 47%, which is below the 50% QoR alarm threshold and therefore switchs on the QoR alarm (switching output pin2 activation possible):

1. indication of contamination by Quality of Run visualization via blue LED's at the sensors teach button

In the RAY26 operating instruction RAY26, 8022178 you can read the following description:

In detail the blue status LED's work as follow:

some examples:

quality of run 81...100%

quality of run 61...80%

quality of run 41...60%

The state of this blue LED's cant be read out via IO-link/ switching output.

2. Quality of run visualization via blinking yellow LED, switching output or IO-Link index
The current QoR value can be read out via IO-link index 175.
The QoR threshold can be read out or written via index 176.
If the QoR value falls below this threshold the yellow LED flashes slowly and the switching output pin2 can be activated if the index 121 pin2 configuration is set to 33 quality of run alarm output.
