Replacement of “DL100 Standard” distance sensors with “DL100 Pro”

As part of the portfolio streamlining, the devices of the “DL100 Standard” series have been discontinued and their delivery stopped at the end of 2024. All discontinued variants (type code DL100-1xxxxxxx) can be replaced by the corresponding device variants of the “DL100 Pro” series (DL100-2xxxxxxx).

These replacement devices offer the identical range of functions and they also have a larger measuring range.

There is only a small, generally insignificant difference between the devices:

The 2 millisecond response time (measured value age) of the “DL100 Pro” is shorter compared to “DL100 Standard” (10 ms respectively 30 ms). If, contrary to expectations, the short response time leads to problems in a control loop, the timing can be changed to exactly that of “DL100 Standard”.

This change is done via the newly introduced parameter “Device mode” combined with the setting of the parameter “Average Filter Distance”. If the preceding parameters are set accordingly, there is no need to adjust to the control circuit when replacing “DL100 Standard” devices.

Procedure:

• Establish connection between “DL100 Pro” and SICK SOPAS Engineering Tool software.
• Log in to the device (operating entity level: “Maintenance”; password: “esick”).
• Select “Parameter Settings”.
• Set “Device mode” to “Standard device” and “Average Filter Distance” according to the setting of previous “DL100 Standard” (default: medium).
