The standard measuring wheel which is normally mounted on the spring arm mechanic of the DBV50 is the measuring wheel with the o-ring and has a circumference of 200mm. As a spare part for the original mounted measuring wheel mit o-ring the measring wheel BEF-MR008020R/2055223 can be used. The only difference is that it looks a bit different from the mechanical design.

At the DBV50 there are two ways possible for mounting the measuring wheel onto the spring arm mechanic.

Either the measuring wheel is on the mounting side of the spring arm mechanic or on the opposite side. You can see the difference on the following picture.

The following list shows the measuring wheels that can be exchanged with the original mounted measuring wheel with the o-ring or be used with the DBV50 with a solid shaft of 8mm.

There is also a measuring wheel with an o-ring and a circumference of 300mm for the DBV50 with a solid shaft of 8mm available. It is BEF-MR008030R/2055635.

As you can see in the picture, this is not a problem for mounting it onto the spring arm mechanic.

The largest measuring wheel has a circumference of 500mm. Sadly, those are not available for encoders with a solid shaft of 8mm.

The only way to mount a measuring wheel with a circumference of 500mm onto the spring arm of the DBV50 is to use one of the following kits:

• BEF-MRS-10-U/2085714
• BEF-MRS-10-U-300/2109043

Of course, also the other measuring wheels with a circumference of 200mm and 300mm are possible to use with those two kits.

As shown in the picture below, those kits include, besides the spring arm from the DBV50, a measuring wheel with an o-ring and an adapter flange to mount face mount flange encoders with a solid shaft of 10mm in diameter and a length of 19mm.  Suitable face mount flange encoders are recognizable with the mechanical interface "S4" in the typecode e.g. DFS60-S4.

Mounting a measuring wheel with a circumference of 500mm on the spring arm of the DBV50 is only possible if the encoder is on the mounting side. The following pictures show the mounting of the measuring wheel BEF-MR010050R/2055227 with an o-ring.

As you can see the measuring wheel needs to be mounted with an offset between the front side of the shaft of the encoder and the flat surface of the measuring wheel. Otherwise the measuring wheel will touch the spring arm mechanic. Here the offset needs to be more than 3.35mm. In this example the offset is 4mm while the gap is 0.65mm between the measuring wheel and the spring arm mechanic. In this way the measuring wheel sits 13mm on the shaft of the encoder which ensures a good fit.

When mounting another kind of measuring wheel like the BEF-MR-010050/5312989 with a smooth plastic surface (Hytrel) and a total width of 33mm which is almost twice the width of BEF-MR010050R/2055227 it looks different.

Here the offset needs to be more than 20.55mm. In this example the offset is 20mm while the gap is 0.55mm between the measuring wheel and the spring arm mechanic.

Due to the larger width of the measuring wheel the offset is also bigger and the measuring wheel sits only 13mm on the shaft of the encoder. Compared to the total width of 33mm this is only one third as it should be. 

The same situation is for the other measuring wheels with a circumference of 500mm which are listed below.

Overall, it works from mechanical side but it needs to be tested how the measuring wheel encoder behaves in an application.
