Here I want to tell you some information about the alignment help in SOPAS.
Beside ruler and level, our Alignment Help is a good instrument to align the MLG2.

Where to use it

The alignment help is helpful for exact alignment

  • for bigger scanning distance
  • applications, where transparent mode is used
  • in difficult to access places

Which level to achieve?

important information: for best alignment you must not achieve the green colored level, it's enough to achieve the maximum level!
Please read the instruction written in SOPAS.

Expected level referring to scanning distance

Alignment level - weakest beam - typical shown values:

How does the level scaling work?

During turning the receiver, the peak value of all beams are recognized.
When there is overdrive at any beam, the amplifier drops down, so that it can happen that the weakest beam value is decreasing although the distance doesn't change.

Furthermore the shown value depends from the last Teach-in

Be careful: when the last Teach-in was made with close range & high reception signal, the level meter might show weak signal, because the sending power has dropped down before.
to correct this: perform a new Teach-in, and continue the alignment.

How about the Teach-in Quality?

there are two state of Teach-in quality, nothing in-between:

Please note: even when the level meter is red, the Teach-in result can reach 100% successfully.
