Dear all,

Today I will show you an interesting application in our production.

The task was to detect 5 threads in the metal housing.
Before, there was a camera system installed, but the result was not that good.

One point was that we have to drive an indication light (red, yellow, green)
The yellow light is for the presence of the housing part.
The green light is for the presence of the housing and that all threads are in the housing and the red light indicates that a thread is missing.
For this kind of application we use the Logic module WI180C-B404#6058819, one Master WLL180T-M434 #6039101 and 5 slaves WLL180T-F434 #6039102 (or suitable WLL80 master slave combination) as fiber we use 6 x LL3-DR02 #5308079.

Here you can see the test setup.

The fibers have to mount 90° to the thread so you get the direct reflection back.

The test setup was only with 3 sensors, one for presence detection and two for thread detection.
With the logic module we control the red and the green light, if all threads are present the green one lights up, if one is missing, the red one lights up.
With the output from one slave we control the yellow light for presence detection of the object.

With this solution, it is very easy to detect threads. With the direct reflection from the thread you get much more light back than without.
You need only one power supply for all modules, you can have all outputs together with a logic function from the WI180C and you can have all outputs separate from each device.
And the best, it is much cheaper than the camera system.

If you have any questions or other solutions, please do not hesitate to leave a comment.
