Task:

Detection of the boarder edge between Cigarillo front part and filter part:

  •  There is no significant contrast
  • Inhomogeneous structure
  • Cannot be solved with KT or CS 

Approach:
  • The tobacco sheet contains little natural luminescence
  • Using LUT9U with extra high sensitivity
  • Short scanning distance to increase sensitivity

Solution with LUT9U-11106S01 p.n. 1051285:
  • Scanning distance 10 mm
  • Checking the signal strength by watching the bargraph

Result:
  • The luminescence is in the lower limit
  • Must be well tested under field condition
