This camera uses a sequence of structured‑light projections, a technique called temporal structured light, to capture both 3D geometry and RGB color in a single snapshot. The technology projects coded light patterns onto the scene and reconstructs depth from the reflected patterns, enabling accurate 3D data even under challenging lighting conditions. It is designed to handle transparent and glossy surfaces better than many conventional systems and maintains performance across large variations in ambient light.

The camera offers multiple processing engines, each optimized for different priorities. Depending on the engine selected, acquisition time and point cloud quality will vary:

  • Speed‑optimized engines deliver very fast cycle times for high‑throughput applications but may sacrifice some fine detail.
  • Quality‑optimized engines provide higher point accuracy and completeness, especially on complex surfaces, at the cost of longer acquisition times.

This flexibility allows users to balance speed vs. precision based on application requirements.

Type: High‑resolution 3D structured‑light snapshot camera with integrated RGB color
Recommended working distance: 1 - 1.6 m
Strengths:

  • Fast cycle times when using speed‑optimized engine
  • Handles transparent, glossy, and dark objects better than many alternatives
  • Maintains performance under large ambient light variations
  • Provides aligned 2D+3D data in a single capture
  • Compact design for easy robot‑arm mounting

Limitations:

  • Field of view does not cover pallets; primarily designed for bins/totes
  • Point trueness is good but not at the level of high‑end stereo cameras for precise CAD matching

Application:

Ideal for robot‑mounted bin/tote picking where speed and material versatility are critical. Supports order commissioning applications that benefit from combined color and depth data to enable an AI‑based localization approach.
