The SNS50 / SNS60 encoder series was similar to Hiperface encoders. For the communication, a RS485 parameter channel and a SIN/COS process data channel was used. The biggest difference was the way how the encoder provides the absolute position. The enocder provides 2 SIN/COS resolutions:
"1024" periods per revolution
"1" period per revolution
How to switch the resolution?
With the RS485 command "51h" it is possible, to switch between 2 sin/cos channel resolutions.
Track 01: The resolution of 1 sin/cos period per rotation is used for a raw positioning in the system → this is used at the start up of the drive system
Track 00: The resolution of 1024 sin/cos periods per rotation is used for a fine positioning in the system → this is used during operation of the drive system
Information about the replacement
There is no replacement available for this kind of encoder. We do not have any encoder with this kind of interface.
If the drive is also able to handle a Hiperface encoder, it would be possible to replace the device with a SRS50 → please clarify this with your customer.
