Here I want to show you one example for solving that kind of application with help of easy logical functions
Length or Height Control
- Normal = 2 beams blocked at once
- Short = 1 beam only
- Long = ≥ 3 beams
For reaching definitely results we use 4 beams:
Zone Configuration
we start with Zone Configuration
in our example the 4 zones (Qint) are equal with beam channels:
Logical Configuration
in the next step we start the Logical Configuration, where we must take care of all kind of possible conditions when the objects are passing the 4 beams.
To make it more clear I have put the truth table aside.
Logic 2 = Short
- Logic 1 = sensor 1, 3, 4 detect no object
- Logic 2 = object detected at sensor 2 and no other
Logic 5 = normal size
- Logic 3 = sensor 2 & 3 detect object at once
- Logic 4 = sensor 1 & 4 detect no object
- Logic 5 = exclusive detection at sensor 2 & 3
Logic 6 = Long
- Logic 6 = sensor 1 & 2 & 3 detect object at once
Pin Configuration
here we allocate our well done Logic Functions to physical switching outputs
- Q1 = Normal
- Q2 = Short
- Q3 = Long
Process Data Configuration
finally we finish with the Process Data Configuration.
That step is optional - only if any data interface is used for instance IO-Link or RS485
In that example we select one of the pre-defined formats.
For instance, we can use Byte 4 or Byte 5 for reading our logic result.
