Application description:
The customer wants to check that a mobile phone backcover made of aluminium is placed correctly in a mounting holder before the next assembly process starts.
Sometimes small metal parts stick to the mounting holder and prevent the correct positioning.
Our development department created a sample IQC10 sensor to solve this application.
Detection of a gap of 0,02mm is a very difficult Task, which requires a lot of accuracy:
- need to reteach the sensor in case the drift becomes too high
This info is provided by
a) via blue blinking LED, once the target is away
b) once the target is away, via high signal on PIN 4 (works only if the customer knows for sure when there is no target in front of the sensor anymore, then we can also keep the sensor signal “high” to warn him).
Application sketch:
*… stays on when sensor needs to be reteached, even if the target has been moved away".
Preliminary specification of the sample sensor:
- Actual sample doesn’t have the final temperature compensation and therefore can only be used at room temperature 25°C
- PIN 2: “Zero Point Teach” when standard “high signal” is applied for two seconds (Yellow LED starts to blink)
- Pin 4: Q1, PNP, N.C.
- Supply voltage: 24 VDC
- Continuous current Ia: 20ma
- Current consumption: 35mA
- Tightening torque, max.: ≤ 1 Nm
- Warm up time: 2 Min after power on, to get the temperature calibration running
- Working distance: in this case approx. 0.7µm, it has to be adapted to the specific application, The sensor has to be mounted approx. in the specified working distance and can than be teached in for easy installation.
- Protection: IP68,
