Dear all,

The application is to detect and count blister packs gum that there are always 9 packs in one conveyor box.

Application facts:
It is a very thin edge with 0.4mm which has be detect, from edge to gum it is 6mm. Blister packs can slightly displaced up to 3mm. It is also possible that there are sometimes only one or two packs in the box and therefore the packs can be inclined in the box. The speed of the conveyor is 0.4 m/s. The blisters are very shiny.

experiment set-up:

We have used two BGS sensors the WT12L-2B550/ 1017904 and WTB9L-3P2461/ 1058231 with a thin Laser because we get the best results with this.
Sensor was fixed with a slight downward inclination of 2-3 degree that you get no reflection from the shiny surface, in a distance of 5 cm to the lower blister row. The distance was set-up via poti 1 mm behind the first edge of a blister pack.
The best would be to detect between the two blisters, but than you have no chance to detect 1 ore 2 packs if they are inclined.

Result:
Blister packs are detect with a difference of 5mm from edge to edge see picture below.
The max movement speed is 0,5 m/s.

Because of set-up the light beam to the lower blister row, it is possible to detect inclined packs, see picture below.

To count the blister packs you have to connect it to a PLC, industrial PC or similar processign unit.
