The different TiM variants are using slightly different technologies (see related article).
This results in different measurement behavior under certain conditions. In a foggy environment, TiMs with hddm technology are less sensitive than HDDM+ devices.
In the following screenshots, you can see the scan view of two TiMs with the wo different technology (HDDM & HDDM+) in foggy environments (visibility ~220 Meteorological Optical Range - MOR).
HDDM+
HDDM
Test: The two test devices (TiM771-S and TiM781-S) are looking in the same direction and have the same configured fields (field 1= 1m*1m, field 2=2m*1m). The recording tool counts every field detection and combines it with the environment visibility.
Results:
The TiM781(HDDM+) fields are active when the visibility falls under 230. The TiM771(HDDM) shows no reaction.
Every single measurement degree (TiM has a resolution of 0.33° or 1°) consists of 84 single measurement points that are accumulated for one measurement value output.
