The mounting spigot has a centering recess for the respective encoder, which is slotted towards the top.

There is a threaded hole on one side of the slot and a flat countersink for a cylinder head screw on the other.

Tightening the screw causes the slots to contract, clamping the encoder in place. The production of the mounting spigot is somewhat more complex, but no additional screws are required, and installation is straightforward.

As the mounting spigot is also a centering fixture, it must be designed to prevent angles or shaft offset during clamping.
