Auto IP (Automatic IP Addressing) is used when no DHCP server is available. The SEC200 automatically assigns itself a link-local IP address in the range 169.254.x.x with the subnet mask 255.255.0.0.

This allows the SEC200 to communicate with other Auto IP devices on the same local network segment without requiring manual IP configuration. Auto IP is particularly useful for direct connections between the SEC200 and a computer or in small networks without a DHCP server.

The SEC200 uses DHCP as its default network mode (configurable). If no DHCP server is available, it falls back to Auto IP. A static IP address can also be configured if required.
